AEROX™ Cryogenic Pipe Support System BG700-703

Cryogenic Pipe Support System

Enabling the use of aerogel insulation within structural pipe supports

BG700-703

AEROX™ supports are designed to integrate with aerogel blanket insulation systems used in cryogenic piping applications.

The system utilises a thermally efficient load-bearing ring structure designed to maintain structural support while preserving insulation performance across the support interface.

Compared with traditional foam-based supports, AEROX™ enables a reduced support profile while maintaining structural load capacity.

AEROX™ supports are intended for cryogenic and extreme temperature piping systems where insulation continuity, reduced support profile, and controlled load transfer are critical to system performance.

Typical Applications

AEROX™ cryogenic pipe supports are intended for:

  • LNG process systems
  • cryogenic transfer lines
  • industrial gas facilities
  • offshore and topside cryogenic piping
  • other extreme temperature piping systems

The AEROX™ cryogenic support system is available in multiple configurations to accommodate uplift restraint, lateral guiding, and sliding support conditions.

BG700 – Standard AEROX™ Cryogenic Pipe Shoe

The BG700 AEROX™ cryogenic pipe shoe is fitted with disc spring washers on each bolt to maintain adequate clamping force as contraction occurs under cryogenic operating temperatures.

The clamping force is designed to ensure the cradle remains fixed on the pipe and does not rotate or slip axially when the shoe is free to slide (unguided) on the supporting structure.

Sliding resistance results from the vertical design load of the pipe combined with the self-weight of the support assembly.

For larger pipe diameters, a PTFE slide plate is recommended to reduce sliding resistance and minimise the clamping force required to prevent rotational movement.

BG701 – AEROX™ Cryogenic Pipe Shoe with Uplift Restraint

The BG701 configuration is similar to the BG700 but incorporates an upper restraint base attached to the cradle to prevent pipe uplift during operation.

BG702 – AEROX™ Cryogenic Pipe Shoe with Lateral Guides

The BG702 configuration is similar to the BG700 but incorporates guide bases mounted on each side of the support to resist significant lateral forces.

Guide bases positioned at pipe centreline level allow the support to accommodate larger lateral loads without requiring excessive clamping force to prevent axial slippage.

Where lateral loads are relatively small, a BG700 configuration may be used with guides acting at the support base. This approach requires higher clamping forces to prevent rotation and should be assessed through project-specific calculations.

BG703 – AEROX™ Cryogenic Pipe Shoe with Uplift and Lateral Restraint

The BG703 configuration incorporates both the upper restraint base of the BG701 and the lateral guide bases of the BG702.

This configuration provides resistance to both uplift and significant lateral forces.

As with the BG702 configuration, guide bases located at pipe centreline level allow the support to accommodate large lateral loads without requiring high clamping forces to prevent slippage.
